Cheese Cake Creation - some practicalities
When we create Wedding Cheese Cakes (and Cheese Cakes for all other occasions) we tend to follow a few simple guidelines:
We listen to your preferences regarding the choice of cheeses as it is most important that you are happy with your cake and the cheeses.
Naturally through our long experience with Cheese Cakes (almost a decade now) we also have some useful advice to give you. We consider the overall appearance of the finished cake and endeavour to provide you with a well proportioned creation which includes cheeses that you and your guests will enjoy.
When catering for quite a large party, it is beneficial to have a wide enough range of cheeses on the cake as all your guests will have their own preferences regarding cheese just as you and we want to make sure that everyone of your guests goes home satisfied. To achieve this goal you could consider your cake options by including the following cheeses: a blue, a strong and a mild hard cheese, a soft cheese as well as a goat's or sheep's cheese. This way you are covering all the bases.
Apart from considerarions regarding the right cheese choices, for which we always allow as much time as you need, the following 4 rules apply:
- You should allow approx. 100g per person. This can be reduced for larger numbers and increased for smaller gatherings.
- The cost is approx. £1.50/£2.00 per person.
- Cheese can be collected from one of our shops in Devon but if you are outside the area we send by overnight carrier. If it is a Saturday wedding we do like to send the cheeses out on the Tuesday before to arrive on the Wednesday.
- If the cheeses are being collected payment can be made on collection. If the cheeses are being sent we call you a few days before to get credit card details. We don't require deposits.
